(ABS is the acronym of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, which refers to acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) is a kind of thermoplastic polymer structure material with high strength, good toughness and easy processing and molding, also known as ABS resin .

Basic Information

The ABS material is a graft copolymer of three monomers: acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene. Its molecular formula can be written as (C8H8·C4H6·C3H3N)x, but in fact it is often a mixture of butadiene-containing graft copolymers and acrylonitrile-styrene copolymers, of which acrylonitrile accounts for 15%~35% , Butadiene accounts for 5%~30%, styrene accounts for 40%~60%, the most common ratio of emulsion ABS is A:B:S=22:17:61, while the proportion of B in bulk ABS is often Low, about 13%. The molding temperature of ABS plastic is 180-250°C, but it is best not to exceed 240°C, as the resin will decompose.

1. General performance
The appearance of ABS engineering plastic is opaque and ivory-colored pellets, and its products can be colored in colorful and high gloss. The relative density of ABS is about 1.05, and the water absorption rate is low. ABS has a good combination with other materials, and is easy to surface printing, coating and plating. The oxygen index of ABS is 18-20. It is a flammable polymer. The flame is yellow with black smoke and a special smell of cinnamon.

2. Mechanical properties
ABS has excellent mechanical properties, excellent impact strength, and can be used at extremely low temperatures: ABS has excellent wear resistance, good dimensional stability, and oil resistance, and can be used for bearings under medium loads and speeds. The creep resistance of ABS is larger than that of PSF and PC, but smaller than that of PA and POM. The flexural strength and compressive strength of ABS are inferior among plastics. The mechanical properties of ABS are greatly affected by temperature.

3. Thermal performance
The heat distortion temperature of ABS is 93~118℃, and the product can be increased by about 10℃ after annealing. ABS can still show a little toughness at -40℃, and can be used in the temperature range of -40~100℃.  ABS helmet
